Dignity Matters

There is a lot of talk on the news in the general mainstream media
as well as in the alternative, more modern media sources
where people are name calling.

When responding to name calling with name calling,
each person has to decide if dignity matters in the end.

The reason I like the political film,The Contender,
so very much is that Joan Allen's character
does not succumb to the pressure of name calling.

When one person calls her a name, she doesn't respond in kind.
When others advise her to defend herself, she does not.
Why do the majority of us decide to chuck our dignity
when the fire gets hot?
How can we possibly believe that
dignity matters except when it matters?

We must shine.
We are the great United States Of America.
